What’s your Gift?

A few days ago, I was in church at the marvelous Potters House North Dallas listening to Pastor Sheryl Brady preach and she mentioned knowing what your gifts are and using them.  That got me thinking.  Do I know what my gift is? And if so, do I use it?

I came to the conclusion, that I don’t know what my gift is.  I’m not 100% sure at what I’m good at.  I know I used to be a professional at eating and I thank God he delivered me from that curse.  But I want to know what I’m really good at.  I want to know why God put me on this Earth.  What does he want me to do?  So that’s my current quest.  To find my purpose and talents.  Here are the first steps that I’m going to take on my new journey.

  1. Reading my bible daily
  2. Not only praying, but writing my prayers down in a journal (Thank you Anaston!)
  3. Trying different things.  They only way you’ll be able to find what you like or what you’re good at, is if you make an effort to try new things.
  4. Say YES!  If you’re given an opportunity, say yes.  You don’t know where that opportunity can lead you, who you’ll have the opportunity to meet or what you’ll learn from each experience.
  5. Read.  Now reading may not directly have anything to do with finding your purpose.  But I believe everyone should read.  Read something.  Read blogs, books, news articles, the TV guide….SOMETHING.

If you’re currently on your journey to find yourself, your purpose, and your talents leave a comment below and let me know what you’re doing to accomplish this! I’m always open to ideas and you never know who you could help.
